Birch headboad....yes please!!!

This big daddy door is about to become a painting...great for a headboard or behind a couch because this puppy is massive! And heavy...might have thrown my back out carrying it up my stairs;)

I had to take all that screen out,sand it down a bit, then cut that middle piece out. I cut a large board to go inside of the door. I painted it with a blue-ish gray green color and put a few book pages on it. Then let it dry.

Covered it all in my favorite.....modge podge!

I painted the door in an eggshell white.

Then...I painted some trees on it in white. And I'm telling you....you do not have to be a painter to do a painting like this one....just try!!!!

I let that dry, screwed it into the frame, and added some streaks of gray-ish brown with a dry brush into the white trees. Then covered it all in a matte clear spray finish. Added a double 100 lb holding wire on the back.
To take these pictures I put the painting over our bed witch is a cal king so it shows just how big this thing is!

I added just one more fun Christmas decoration to the house! I found this beat up ladder at my trash pile! I sanded it. Had to nail a couple pieces back together, and skill saw some really destroyed parts off the end....but I love the fun result!!!

Bird's on a Wire

Oh I must sidebar about my kiddo real quick!!
My sweet Allie Cooper turned 4 this week!! My mom got that great big doll house from Costco with the thousand pieces, and happy birthday to Daddy too cause he gets to put it together!

I had to take a picture of this huge mess that took about 4 hours to put together...."but it's sooooo worth it Cam she is just going to love it!!!"
It was all put together and she tells me this morning... "Mom, I don't really like it, let's take it back today!" I laughed so hard!!!! She wants a stuffed animal instead!

Because so many people wanted the first painting on book pages I figured I'd make a few more.

This one was a collaboration! My Dad had to cut these great big boards in half for me with his table saw.(next purchase....who am I???!!! I want a table saw for my next gift????!)
Then my sweet hubby built the frame for my picture for me!!! What's with me, between texting and facebook I don't know how to end a sentence without a thousand exclamation points or a winky face!!!!;)

Then I got to work on the painting. I figure since I basically described this process already, I will let the pictures explain.

O Christmas Tree

A Saturday that started at 10ish, got another load of trash for the blog, and convinced my husband to get fake trees, THIS was a good good day!
I think me and my sweet Dad made our last trip to get goods though! We've taken most of the good stuff now! Also after stepping on a nail (it went completely though my boot, and right in between my toes!!) I'm a little bit done with it....not to mention my garage is OUT OF CONTROL!

My husband has always said that we will never do a fake tree!!! I have finally convinced him to change his mind!!! YESSSSS! I think the appeal was always the image of Christmas music, hot chocolate, Christmas lights glowing in the background and we bundle up and go cut down our fresh tree.....But in reality we are too cheap to go to a place to chop it down, we always went to Wal-mart to get the tree, stand in line for 3 days, get home to leave a trail of pine needles over the entire house, only to have the fire hazard dead before Christmas anyways! So this is our wonderful trip to
wal-mart for the last time!!! Notice there is no hot chocolate, no bundling up, and the kids are on the edge of hysteria.

Mommy's little present to herself (stop judging me!)

We had to get two, Cameron eventually wants one in every room....oh my!
Time to decorate!!! I wanted my little pathetic looking tree to be covered in all that great yarn I got at the thrift store. So I rolled little ornaments with the yarn, whilst watching Elf! Now that is a fun Christmas tradition.

Cameron and the Kids did this one in the front room! The kids loved picking out a ornament and putting it on the tree...too cute.

Vintage key Chalkboard

Another day, another piece of someone's trash for me to try to fix up! I am just loving doing all these crafty projects!!! My booty is missing the gym a bit more, but I figure once all the this stuff is cleared out of the garage...

This old window is full of layers and layers of plastic and staples, so first things first, I need to get it all cleaned up and all the plastic and staples out. A great project while I watch the kids play with the neighbors in the front yard

All cleaned up; I just need to sand it down and add a little paint.

I used the skill saw to cut a board to fit inside.

My Dad gave me some great pointers about cutting wood that were really helpful to me: When you are making lines on your wood to cut it, always use the factory cut sides to measure off of, because they will be perfectly straight angles. After making your lines with your straight edge, cut on the outside of the line so that the drawn line is still included in the area you're using, if you cut the drawn line off your wood will be to small for the area you measured!

Then I painted my piece of wood with the chalkboard paint.

After my piece of wood was completely dry, I drew with chalk my design that I wanted on it. Then I painted right over it with white acrylic paint. After it dried I just had to clean off the excess chalk.

Again I found another use for my fun rub on images from Micheal's!!! Love those things!!!

I rubbed one on the corner and one the top, then sprayed it with a clear top coat. I attached the wood to the back on the window with screws and all done!!!

I hung it by the hook on the back, but if I were to really hang it in my house I would use the vintage hinges that are at the top still, to add another element of visual detail. (they are hard to see in this picture)

The Best Dessert Ever!

A COOKIE!!!

my go to desert is always the perfect bite of salt, sweet, and chocolate...a cookie! Here is my recipe!!!

• 1 cup butter, softened
• 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 (4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding
• 2 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/2 tsp salt
  
• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Mix the yummy maker (butter) with your pudding, sugars, salt, eggs, vanilla, sift in your flour and soda. Add chips. Because flour compacts as you store it, you will always get different ammounts of four as you measure it (that's why you are really suppose to wiegh it, but really who's going to do that!) So with trial and error you learn how much more or less to add to your cookie, if you like a flatter cookie (less) if you like a fuller one (more). I always scoop with a cookie scope (it's just a smaller ice cream scoop...everyone needs this wonderfull devise)
* That and a great cookie recipe in a jar would make a great gift!
Plop full and round dough on a greased cookie sheet and chill untill right before you want to eat them. A warm cookie is ALWAYS a yummier cookie. 375 for 10-13 minutes
(it takes my oven 12 to 13 minutes)


For chocolate/peanut butter cookies substitute your vanilla pudding for chocolate, and your chocolate chips for reeses peanut butter chips.

Cage the bows

This fun little door had great color and character already; so it really didn't need much love. I took that handle off, painted it white, then sanded and cleaned it down.

I drew my little birdie cage on it in pencil, so when I messed up i could redo;)

After drawing it out i painted it in white acrylic paint. And on the back I strung wires across so that you could hide some bows and clips underneath. I coated it in a clear sealer, and reattached the handle to the bottom so all you have to do is lift it up and voila messy messy bows you don't have to see!
